Inspection, Audit & Residue Sampling
Inspection Procedure
Contact Before Inspection
Each applicant shall be contacted before inspection to schedule the visit in a timely manner. This does not apply to unannounced on-site visits. The duration of inspection varies depending on the size and complexity of the operation.
Presence of Operator
The inspection shall be carried out only in the presence of the operator or a responsible person who can accompany the assigned inspector.
Scope of Inspection
The inspection covers the entire chain of custody of the production system managed by the operator, including both organic and conventional production.
Inspection Checklist
After completing the inspection, the inspector fills out the checklist and provides a copy to the operator. The checklist must be signed and dated by both the inspector and the operator.
Non-Compliance Observations
The inspector notes any non-compliances and informs the operator of relevant NPOP provisions. The operator is asked to rectify the non-compliances.
Frequency of Inspections
The frequency of scheduled inspections may be increased or decreased based on operator performance and compliance. Factors include size and type of operation, intensity of production, previous inspection outcomes, compliance records, and complaints received. Risk analysis considers all threats to organic integrity.
